  • 1989 Rolex Daytona 16523 Steel & Gold 4 line diamond dial

This Rolex Cosmograph Daytona reference 16523 is an early and highly desirable example of the iconic two-tone Zenith-era Daytona. Produced during the first generation of automatic Daytonas, this model houses the legendary Zenith El Primero–based movement, which Rolex modified extensively to meet its own rigorous standards. Collectors prize these early 16523 models for their build quality, distinct details, and historical significance as the first automatic Daytonas after decades of manual-wind production.

This particular watch features the coveted four-line dial configuration, an early and less common layout compared to later five-line versions. Even more impressive is its factory diamond dial, adding a luxurious touch to the sporty Daytona design. The dial is in absolutely mint condition, with all diamond hour markers perfectly set, crisp printing, and a flawless surface.

The case and bracelet are also in excellent condition, showing no signs of wear. The 18-carat gold components display a beautiful, rich patina that only develops naturally over time, giving the watch a warm and elegant character. The steel and gold Oyster bracelet retains its full set of links, perfectly matching the watch both in fit, date and patina.

The watch has been fully serviced by us, ensuring precise timekeeping and smooth chronograph operation. It is powered by the renowned Zenith-based Caliber 4030, a movement celebrated for its reliability, performance, and place in Daytona history. Rolex made significant modifications to the Zenith El Primero base, including reducing the beat rate and improving the escapement, making the 16523 both historically important and mechanically outstanding.

Included with the watch are its original Rolex presentation box, original green leather wallet, original Daytona manual, and original tag, making this a particularly attractive example for collectors and enthusiasts.

My thoughts on this piece are that it embodies a perfect balance of sportiness, luxury, and history. The combination of the early four-line Zenith-era configuration, factory diamond dial, and beautifully aged gold gives it tremendous character. These early two-tone Zenith Daytonas have become increasingly sought after in recent years, especially in such mint condition with untouched dials and full bracelets. This is a truly special example of one of Rolex’s most iconic chronographs, offering both collectability and everyday wearability in one timeless package.

  • 1953 Rolex 6298 Oyster Perpetual 36mm Pre-Explorer Unpolished

The Rolex Oyster Perpetual reference 6298 is one of the most important early oversized Oyster models ever produced. Manufactured in 1953, it features the desirable 36mm Oyster case, a remarkably large size for its era and a design that would later pave the way for the legendary Explorer. Its clean lines, balanced proportions, and timeless aesthetics make the reference 6298 one of the most collectible vintage Rolex references.

This watch is an exceptionally honest and beautifully preserved example. The case remains unpolished, retaining its original factory finishing and sharp profile. The original silver sunburst dial has developed a warm, even patina over more than seventy years while preserving its elegant appearance. It retains its original hands, original Rolex screw-down crown, original crystal, original case back, and the original radium luminous material on both the hands and hour markers. The original Rolex engraving inside the case back remains crisp and clearly visible, another indication of how well this watch has been preserved.

What makes this watch especially meaningful is its documented history. The case back is engraved “James A. Best – 1958.” According to the family, James A. Best Jr., a United States Army veteran, was gifted this Rolex in 1958. At that time, he fitted the watch with the brown leather strap it still wears today, and that same strap has remained attached to the watch ever since. It has never been replaced, making it a wonderful part of the watch’s personal history and provenance.

Because the original strap is now over six decades old, we do not recommend wearing the watch with it. It has been retained solely to preserve the originality and story of the watch, and all photographs were taken with this original strap installed. To ensure the watch can be enjoyed safely, we will include a brand-new premium Italian leather strap from Milano Straps.

The watch is accompanied by its original Rolex presentation box, further enhancing its collectability. Complete, honest examples of the reference 6298 are becoming increasingly difficult to find, especially those that remain unpolished and retain their original dial, hands, crown, crystal, luminous material, and documented ownership history.

This is more than just a vintage Rolex. it is a remarkably original early Oyster Perpetual with a documented story spanning over seventy years. For collectors seeking one of the finest examples of the reference 6298, this watch represents an exceptional opportunity to own an important piece of Rolex history.

  • 1957 Rolex Oyster Perpetual Chronometer Ref. 6564 Tropical Dial Full Set With Original Box

Some vintage watches are rare because of production numbers. Others become rare because time transforms them into something completely unique. This Rolex Oyster Perpetual Chronometer Ref. 6564 falls into the second category.

At first glance, this appears to be a clean and classic mid century Oyster Perpetual. Then the dial stops you. Over decades, the original silver dial has naturally aged into a stunning tropical salmon tone, creating a warm copper, honey, and light orange appearance that is impossible to replicate. The patina is completely natural and gives this watch a one of a kind personality that no modern watch can imitate.

Even more impressive, the dial still retains all of its original lume plots, and the watch still has its original hands with the correct original radium lume. Finding a tropical dial in this condition while still retaining all original luminous material is extremely difficult.

The case remains completely unpolished and has never been polished. The lugs remain thick with strong factory lines, exactly what serious vintage collectors want to see. The serial and reference numbers between the lugs remain fully visible.

What makes this watch even more special is its mechanical originality. This watch shows no signs of ever being serviced. Our watchmaker carefully inspected the movement and found that everything remains exactly as it should, with no mechanical issues that required intervention. Because of how original the watch is, we made the decision to preserve it and leave it untouched mechanically.

We only lightly polished the original acrylic crystal using the Milano Straps acrylic crystal polishing kit to remove surface scratches while preserving the original crystal.

During testing, the watch delivered approximately 48 hours of power reserve and is currently running at a very strong +3 to +5 seconds per day, which is extremely impressive for a vintage watch of this age.

Inside is Rolex’s highly respected automatic movement, known among collectors and watchmakers for being incredibly durable and dependable. Many consider this era of Rolex calibers to be among the strongest movements the company ever produced due to their simple and robust construction.

The watch comes fitted with a brand new premium Italian leather strap from Milano Straps and will also include its original Rolex box.

Finding an unpolished Rolex Oyster Perpetual Chronometer Ref. 6564 with a naturally tropical salmon dial, untouched movement history, original lume, original crystal, strong performance, and original box is incredibly rare. This is the kind of honest vintage Rolex collectors spend years searching for.
