1960 Patek Philippe Calatrava 3445G White Gold Unique Gay Frères Bracelet Unpolished
This is an exceptional and investment-grade example of the Patek Philippe reference 3445, crafted in 18k white gold and remaining in completely unpolished condition. The 35 mm case shows sharp edges, crisp hallmarks, and only minimal signs of wear, preserving the original factory finish and proportions that collectors prize. The silver sunburst dial is beautifully clean with applied baton markers, date window at 3 o’clock, and subsidiary seconds at 6. The acrylic crystal is the original one, exceptionally clean and well-preserved. It has a single faint mark between 5 and 6 o’clock, visible only from a specific angle. We tried to capture it in one of the photos, but we chose not to replace the crystal since it is original to the watch. The mark does not affect visibility in any way and is barely noticeable in person, preserving the watch’s authenticity and character.
What makes this piece even more remarkable is its original integrated bracelet, possibly one of one! Dated 1960. produced by Gay Frères, the legendary Geneva bracelet maker responsible for many of the most iconic watch bracelets in history, including those for the Rolex Oyster models and the original Nautilus and Royal Oak. This bracelet is fully signed Patek Philippe and hallmarked, with its factory adjustment system intact and the original Patek “battery” logo still clearly visible on the clasp. It is long, fitting wrists between 7 and 7.5 inches. a rare find since most vintage bracelets have been shortened over time.
Inside beats Patek Philippe’s celebrated caliber 27-460M self-winding movement, considered one of the finest automatic calibers ever made by the brand. The movement was recently serviced and is exceptionally clean, running beautifully and ready to wear.
Presentation
The watch is offered with its original Patek Philippe presentation box, which shows typical interior flaking for the era, a normal occurrence for these 1960s boxes. To complement the set, we will also include an original Patek Philippe boutique travel box in new condition, making this a complete and highly presentable package.
My Thoughts
The reference 3445 is a historically significant Patek Philippe, as it was the brand’s very first automatic watch to feature both a date complication and subsidiary seconds. Most examples were delivered on leather straps, which makes this fully signed white gold Gay Frères bracelet version a true rarity. Over many years of in this industry I have seen very few 3445s with an original integrated bracelet, and almost none in this condition or design. This is likely a special-order piece, and it offers an unmatched combination of originality, rarity, and wearability.
This is a collector-level 3445 that ticks every box: unpolished, rare white gold configuration, factory Gay Frères bracelet, recently serviced movement, and complete with both original and boutique boxes. It is a watch that not only represents an important chapter in Patek Philippe history but will also stand out as a centerpiece in any serious collection.
