"The Golden Oval"

A new old stock 1987 Rolex ladies’ cocktail watch that perfectly combines Swiss watchmaking with Italian jewelry craftsmanship. Measuring just 18mm, the solid 14K gold case is framed, while the original integrated gold  bracelet gives the watch an exceptionally elegant and jewelry like presence.

The watch comes directly from its original owner, who received it as a wedding gift but never wore it, having received another very similar watch on the same occasion. We also acquired the second watch, which is currently listed for sale.

The watch remains in very nice original condition. An additional highlight is that this reference was featured in a Rolex catalog, adding historical significance and making it particularly appealing to collectors.

The Bracelet

The bracelet will comfortably fit approximately 6 to 6.5 inch wrists.

The Italian Connection

You may notice the “ITALY” marking on the clasp. This does not mean the watch is non-original or that the bracelet was added later.

During this period, Rolex used Italian jewelry manufacturers for the production of certain precious metal cases and bracelets, particularly for its elegant ladies' and cocktail watches. Examples from the 1970s, 1980's and early 1990's  are documented with Rolex 14K cases marked “14K Italy” and bracelets specially made for Rolex by Italian jewelers.

Italy had an exceptional tradition of fine jewelry craftsmanship, making it a natural source for the intricate goldwork used on these pieces. The Italian manufacture is actually part of what makes these vintage Rolex jewelry watches so interesting.

Movement & Condition

The original Rolex mechanical movement has just been fully serviced and is currently running beautifully. For a watch from the 1978s, it is performing exceptionally well.

The watch will be accompanied by its original Rolex presentation box and certificate, the watch was in the USA by Authorize Rolex Dealer that still exists today making this an especially attractive and complete example.
