The first generation of the most famous Rolex ever made, Explorer ref.1016 with an extremely rare early gilt dial  ‘Officially Certified Chronometer’ (OCC) NOT ‘Superlative Chronometer Officially Certified’ (SCOC) the newer version.

less than 10 examples offered in the last 10 years anywhere, All have exactly the same gilt dial printing and 3-6-9 numbers, all have a case back stamped IV.60, all have the newly introduced 1560 movement and all have a serial number falling in the 596,000 range.

Case and Band:

 Good condition case, All the numbers still visible between the lugs. Non Rolex leather strap.

Dial and hands:

 Very Good glossy gilt radium dial with. The glossy finish of the dial has aged to marble matte. The gilt print and chapter ring are sharp. the markers and hands still glows briefly under a UV light, which is correct for radium dials.

Movement:

 Original 1560 butterfly Movement keep good time. Recently serviced by our in-house watchmaker.
